We expect Energy Ministry to work systematically on RES, mediate with other bodies – SEAU head
Vladyslav Sokolovsky, Chairman of the Board of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU), expressed his wish to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine regarding the appointment of a new head: to bring work with the renewable energy sector to a systemic level and to serve as a mediator between the sector and other interested bodies and enterprises.
"It would be great if the Minister of Energy started a tradition of holding regular meetings with RES associations at least once a quarter. This would make it systematic. This would allow the ministry to learn about the objective situation in the industry from those who are constantly engaged in practical issues," said Sokolovsky in a commentary to Energy Reform.
At the same time, he noted that there are a lot of issues in the industry's activities, paying attention, in particular, to the adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to European one within the framework of relations with the EU.
"In my opinion, the ministry should consult with us more about what specifically needs to be changed in this legislation," the SEAU chairman noted.
According to him, the Ministry of Energy could also act as a mediator between the industry and other involved state bodies and enterprises.
"There is a certain discretion of the ministry, the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission and others, and the Ministry of Energy could become a platform that would unite everyone and where joint decisions would be discussed and further implemented," Sokolovsky expressed his wish.
He also expressed hope for greater attention to energy issues from the Ministry of Justice, now headed by former Ministry of Energy head Herman Haluschenko.
"We hope that the Ministry of Justice will now pay very serious attention to energy-related issues. We hope that it will consider them faster and more professionally," the chairman of the SEAU board indicated.
