We welcome SBU counterintelligence measures, but such actions cannot be reason to destroy anti-corruption institution- NABU director
Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) Semen Kryvonos states that, with all due respect to the work of his law enforcement colleagues, counterintelligence actions by the SBU cannot be grounds for destroying the anti-corruption infrastructure.
"I would like to emphasize that we welcome the counterintelligence activities carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine, we respect any work of our law enforcement colleagues, but we clearly emphasize that such actions cannot be the basis for the destruction of an anti-corruption institution," Kryvonos said at a briefing in Kyiv.
"If the facts are confirmed by relevant evidence that a person really cooperated with the bodies of the aggressor country - the Russian Federation, we will definitely make an appropriate decision. We are for the self-cleaning of the system. But I emphasize once again: this is not a reason to destroy the anti-corruption infrastructure, because, excuse me, you successfully communicated in the media," he said.
"Traitors - if they exist and this is proven by a relevant court decision - were also exposed in the SBU. And in other law enforcement agencies, and among senior state officials, but there was never a question of disbanding or weakening the relevant body," Kryvonos said.
