Mobile communications development to accelerate in Ukraine – minister
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed into law Bill No. 4321, which is intended to ease regulatory barriers and promote mobile communication development across Ukraine, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced.
"We're steadily moving toward our ambitious goal of providing 98% of the population with high-quality mobile coverage by 2030. Bill No. 4321 is a major step in that direction," Fedorov said.
He noted that the new legislation is expected to speed up the rollout of mobile networks in Ukraine.
Among its provisions, the law: reduces the timeframe for obtaining land plots to build base stations from six months to three; and legally secures the right to use mobile base stations without risk of forced dismantling – especially critical for restoring communications after hostilities.
Fedorov added that with the law now in force, mobile coverage will begin to expand more rapidly in villages, remote areas, highways, and newly de-occupied territories.
