Heat drives up energy consumption since start of week
Electricity consumption is showing an upward trend and as of 9:30 a.m. on August 6, it was 3.3% higher than at the same time the previous day.
"The reason is the persistence of hot weather throughout Ukraine," NPC Ukrenergo said on Wednesday.
The daily maximum consumption recorded on the evening of Tuesday, August 5, was 3.2% higher than the maximum on Monday, August 4, which in turn was 3.3% higher than the maximum on the previous working day, Friday, August 1.
"The need for economical electricity consumption remains. Please limit the use of powerful electrical appliances in the evening. Do not turn on several such appliances at the same time from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.," the system operator appealed to consumers.
At the same time, as the Ministry of Energy reported on Wednesday, as of August 6, the power system is operating in a balanced manner, with no planned restrictions for consumers. Active preparation of power equipment for the heating season and ensuring reliable operation under summer load conditions is ongoing.
