Ukrainian Red Cross assists evacuees from Korabel neighborhood in Ukrainian city of Kherson

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) continues to assist residents of the Ukrainian city of Kherson who have been evacuated from the Korabel neighborhood.

"At the city's evacuation center, where evacuees are brought, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society operates a relief station. Volunteers from the Kherson regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society provide snacks, beverages, and drinking water. Mobile devices can also be charged at the site," the URCS reported on Facebook on Sunday.

The center and shelters are staffed by four psychosocial support specialists from the URCS, who have already provided initial psychological aid to 543 evacuees, including 65 Kherson residents who required individual counseling sessions. URCS volunteers are also conducting mine safety awareness sessions and training evacuees on proper behavior during shelling.

So far, more than 500 individual hygiene kits, over 400 emergency kits, and more than 2,500 liters of bottled drinking water have been distributed.

Rapid Response Unit volunteers with the URCS continue evacuating people from among the low-mobility population to the reception center for displaced persons. Elderly evacuees with chronic illnesses are being hospitalized for further examination and treatment.

As reported, following a Russian military strike on Kherson that damaged the bridge leading to the Korabel neighborhood, the Kherson Regional Military Administration announced the evacuation of residents from the area.
