A vehicle of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) was damaged as a result of shelling by the Russian army in Kherson region.

“On the evening of 9 August, at around 22:00, Russian forces launched intensive artillery shelling on Kherson, targeting the Ostriv (Korabel) district, from where a mass evacuation of civilians is currently underway. At approximately 23:10, another attack took place near the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team’s location in Kherson region. The strike damaged a Toyota Land Cruiser used by volunteers for evacuations, delivering humanitarian aid, and other essential tasks within the combat zone,” URCS said on its official Facebook page.

At the time, a group of volunteers was inside the building, prepared to respond swiftly to emergencies — from assisting ambulance crews to carrying out emergency evacuations. All were safely sheltered and remained unharmed.

“We strongly condemn the shelling of civilian infrastructure and vehicles clearly marked with the Red Cross emblem. Such attacks constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law,” URCS stated.
