Russia misleads West about capturing Donetsk region by year-end while failing to replace losses – CCD

Russia is not compensating for losses in Donetsk region, while trying to convince Western countries of its ability to capture the entire territory of the Donetsk region by the end of this year, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the National Security and Defense Council, has said.

"The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service is trying to convince the West through its channels that their army can capture the entire Donetsk region this year. Of course, this information does not correspond to reality and the realities on the front. Their daily losses in killed and wounded since the beginning of the year have averaged 1,200 people. Despite the large number of troops involved in the Donetsk region, replenishment with reserves does not compensate for the losses the enemy is currently suffering in daily assaults," Kovalenko said on Telegram on Wednesday.

According to him, the Russians are still trying to put pressure on the front, especially in eastern Ukraine, where very difficult fighting is ongoing. "But Russia is not capable of capturing the Donetsk region," Kovalenko said.
