The massive rocket and drone attack on Ukraine carried out by Russia on Thursday shows that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want to end the war, said Petro Poroshenko, MP and leader of the European Solidarity party, on Sky News, according to the party's website.

‘Today we were attacked by six hundred Russian strike drones and missiles, both cruise and ballistic. This is how Russia wants peace. Just today, in the westernmost region of Ukraine, right on the border with NATO, Russian missiles destroyed an American factory that produced household appliances and kitchen equipment,’ Poroshenko said.

He stressed that the strike on the American-invested enterprise is ‘the best proof’ that the Kremlin has no intention of ending the hostilities. According to him, more than 30 civilians were injured as a result of the attack.

The politician called on the international community, in particular the countries of the ‘coalition of the willing,’ to set a specific deadline by which Russia must agree to an unconditional, comprehensive ceasefire. In case of refusal, in his opinion, an alternative scenario should be implemented, which provides for the supply of offensive weapons to Ukraine, the introduction of ‘hellish’ sanctions, the unfreezing of Russian financial assets and the opening of prospects for Ukraine's membership in NATO and the EU.

‘We must not give Putin the right to blackmail or use his veto against Ukraine, against Europe, against the United States. If there is no absolutely clear message with “Plan B”, it will be a never-ending story,’ said the leader of European Solidarity.

He also stressed that Ukraine is not considering any options for exchanging territories, is ready for an immediate ceasefire, and is counting on the support of Western leaders, in particular the US president, the British prime minister, and the leaders of European states.

‘We must stop the war. We must win the battle. We must protect democracy and freedom,’ Poroshenko concluded.
