Russian forces hit Ukrainian Railways' rolling stock, one Intercity+ train damaged, several trains rerouted
Last night, Russian forces carried out a targeted strike on Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia)'s civilian passenger rolling stock, including its fleet of high-speed Intercity+ trains.
"Thanks to the coordinated efforts of railway workers from the depot, the fire at the site was extinguished. One train was significantly damaged. All employees had taken shelter in advance and are safe," Ukrzaliznytsia's press service reported on Telegram.
The company noted it is doing everything possible to keep the maximum number of trains in service. "Not a single route will be canceled: we are deploying substitute rolling stock. We will provide updates on delays, as repairs on damaged infrastructure are still ongoing," Ukrzaliznytsia said.
Due to damage to the rail hub infrastructure in Koziatyn, a number of trains are currently following altered routes.
