About 10% of Ukrainian schoolchildren are abroad or in occupied territories – MP Babak

About 10% of Ukrainian schoolchildren are abroad or in temporarily occupied territories, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Serhiy Babak has said.
"The school year has begun. We expect about 3.5 million schoolchildren. Of these, 10% are currently abroad or in temporarily occupied territories and are studying remotely or using other forms of education: 35,361 in temporarily occupied territories and 302,889 from abroad," Babak wrote in a telegram channel.
According to him, this year about 12,000 schools will operate in Ukraine, of which more than 8,000 are full-time, 2,5000 are in a mixed format and another 1,500 are studying remotely.
"I really want this school year to be a time for children when, despite all the challenges of war, they can feel like just children. I want to see their smiles. The ones that give us faith in tomorrow. Thank you to the teachers for the support you become for every child, and to the parents who choose Ukrainian education for their children," he wrote.
