We are investigating 2,758 cases against traitors and collaborators, more than half involve law enforcement officers – Sukhachev

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is investigating 2,758 cases against traitors and collaborators, 1,591 cases against law enforcement officers, 10 cases against people's deputies, and 121 cases have been opened against servicemen, SBI Director Oleksiy Sukhachev has said.

"The SBI is investigating almost 2,760 cases against traitors and collaborators. 1,300 cases have already been submitted to court," the SBI Director said in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine.

He emphasized: "The fight against treason and collaborationism is a matter of the survival of the state. Anyone who deliberately sides with the enemy is working against Ukraine and is involved in the destruction of our people."

According to Sukhachev, the SBI documents every fact, identifies all those involved, so that the criminals are brought to justice.

The SBI director said that out of 2,758 proceedings on crimes against national security, the vast majority are facts of treason (1,893 proceedings) and collaboration activities (686 proceedings), another 46 cases concern aiding the aggressor state.

Sukhachev said that among the defendants in such cases are former and current officials of the highest level.

"So, 10 proceedings are being investigated against people's deputies, one proceeding against a category "A" civil servant, 51 proceedings concern judges, 1,591 proceedings against law enforcement officers, and another 121 proceedings have been opened against military personnel," he noted.

"This means that no status or position can become an indulgence for treason," he said.
