European Parliament honors Andriy Parubiy

The European Parliament honored the memory of Andriy Parubiy with a minute of silence at the beginning of the plenary session in Strasbourg.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, addressing the deputies, emphasized that the war in Ukraine continues, and Europe continues to support the Ukrainian people in their pursuit of peace, dignity and justice.
"We were appalled by the terrible murder of the former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andrii Parubiy, in Lviv two weeks ago. Tragedies like Mr. Parubiy’s death serve to reinforce our Union’s support for Ukrainians in their fight for freedom and democracy," Metsola said.
Ukrainian MP Petro Poroshenko, who is in Strasbourg, posted a video of the minute of silence on his social media page and thanked MEPs for their support.
"This is recognition of his role in the fight for the freedom of Ukraine and our common European future. I thank every MEP for supporting this initiative. We are together in the fight against the Russian invasion. Eternal memory to Andriy," the politician wrote.
Andriy Parubiy - Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation, MP from the European Solidarity faction - died in Lviv two weeks ago. His death shook Ukrainian society and the international community.
