Sybiha briefes his Bulgarian counterpart on latest Russian strikes, importance of advancing Ukraine's EU accession process

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has held a conversation with his Bulgarian counterpart Georg Georgiev, spoke about Russian attacks and stressed the need to quickly open negotiation clusters and advance the process of Ukraine's accession to the EU.
“I had a call with my Bulgarian colleague Georg Georgiev and informed him about the latest horrible Russian strikes. I underscored that Putin not only rejects peace, but gets a sense of impunity and grows ever more aggressive when not facing appropriate responses to his terror,” Sybiha said on X.
He stressed that fresh pressure on Moscow was critical, including the next powerful package of EU sanctions, tough energy restrictions and personal sanctions.
The ministers discussed issues on the bilateral agenda of Ukrainian-Bulgarian relations, as well as mutual cooperation within the framework of international organizations, in particular the Council of Europe.
“I also underlined the need to swiftly open negotiation clusters and advance Ukraine’s EU accession,” Sybiha added.
He thanked Bulgaria for its consistent support for Ukraine.
