Russia wants escalation, not interested in peace - Finnish President

Russia wants escalation and is not interested in peace, said Finnish President Alexander Stubb, noting the possibility of further support for Ukraine.

"Russia is suffering defeat in all its directions. In 1,000 days, they have advanced less than 1% of the territory, paying a huge price for it ... We believe that the Russian Federation is seeking escalation, and we saw examples of this yesterday," he said at a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv.

According to Stubb, the future strategy should consist of two blocks: further military, financial and political support for Ukraine; increased pressure on the Russian Federation, in particular sanctions.

"Ukraine wants peace, but Russia does not want it. This is what we have seen in recent days," said the Finnish leader, calling for increased pressure on Russia.
