Poroshenko brings drones to front for Tetiana Chornovol, who may become MP, and for other brigades in south
During a trip to the southern direction of the front, MP, leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko handed over a batch of drones and equipment to the unit where investigative journalist, public activist and participant in the Revolution of Dignity, MP of the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation Tetiana Chornovol is fighting, the political force's website reported on Sunday.
"I thank you very much for the optics. I started working with it. It's great... I'm as ‘happy as an elephant,’ because combat work is my life. This is all I live for," Chornovol said.
Chornovol, even before the start of the full-scale invasion, mastered the profession of an ATGM operator Stugna and from the first day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation has been participating in repelling Russian aggression. Later, she also mastered working with FPV drones, which, according to her, are constantly in short supply. This time, Poroshenko handed over ten- and fifteen-inch FPV drones, as well as a batch of kamikaze drones on fiber optics, which can fly 10 and 15 kilometers.
"Strong, brave, not afraid of the enemy, because the enemy is afraid of her like fire. Together with her comrades from the 34th separate coastal defense brigade, she is doing very important work in Kherson region. In particular, she is destroying enemy artillery installations by all available means. That is why we brought her drones of our production with a range of 10 and 15 km. Now we have started producing drones with a range of 23 km - we will definitely bring them too," Poroshenko said about Chornovol.
In addition to drones, her brigade was also given Shatro electronic warfare systems on a frame, charging stations and an Aspirin drone detector worth UAH 4 million.
"To strengthen the defense of the south, weapons were also brought for other brigades stationed here. The guys and girls from the 35th Separate Marine Brigade and the 360th Separate Coastal Artillery Brigade mostly need drones and protection. The cargo contains both - the Shatro electronic warfare systems to protect equipment and the Aspirin drone detectors that save the lives of soldiers. As always, we brought communications, charging stations, and computer equipment - the brigade cannot do without this," the politician said.
Chornovol, born in 1979, is currently an active military officer, and has been participating in repelling Russian aggression since 2022. In the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocation, she was a member of the parliamentary faction of the political party People's Front, as well as the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense. Before her parliamentary term, she was also a government commissioner for anti-corruption policy and an advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
She participated in the 2019 parliamentary elections, running on the list of the European Solidarity party under number 27. Currently, the Verkhovna Rada faction of the same name has 27 MPs, three of whom were elected in single-mandate constituencies in the 2019 parliamentary elections, and 24 in a multi-mandate nationwide constituency by spear. At No. 25 and 26 are Volodymyr Viatrovych and Iryna Nykorak, who became MPs after the elections after the exit of Iryna Lutsenko and Mykhailo Zabrodsky in 2019 and 2023, respectively.
On August 30, Andriy Parubiy, MP of the Verkhovna Rada of the VI-IX convocations, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada in 2016-2019, member of the European Solidarity faction, was killed in Lviv. Thus, Chornovol can become a MP of the Ukrainian parliament of the IX convocation. "Our honor and respect for Andriy lies in one thing - in actions to protect the country. Our revenge is one thing - victory over the enemy," she said, without announcing her intentions to join the work in parliament.
