Rubio urges European countries to make more efforts to counter Russia – media
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has criticized European countries that continue to buy Russian fossil fuels, calling it "absurd" and urged them to make more efforts to pressure Russia, he said on NBC's TODAY program.
Rubio said the United States may have to impose additional sanctions against Russia "at some point" to end the war in Ukraine.
"The minute we go heavy on the sanctions and everything else, our ability to act as a broker to bring about peace is dimished," Rubio said, as per the broadcaster's website.
"Some countries are asking the U.S. to impose more sanctions, but there are countries in Europe that are not doing enough, so I think they need to do more," Rubio said.
