Russians holding ‘Novorossiya’ forum in occupied part of Zaporizhia region to ‘strengthen all-Russian identity’ – Center for Countering Disinformation

The Russian party United Russia organized a Novorossiya forum in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhia region, dedicated to "strengthening the pan-Russian identity," the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine's (NSDC) Center for Countering Disinformation reported.

"Such events are part of the Kremlin's propaganda strategy. Under the pretext of 'preserving cultural heritage,' Russia is attempting to instill in residents of the temporarily occupied territories the idea that they are and have always been part of the 'Russian world,'" the Telegram channel states.

It is noted that among the participants of the event were Belarusian, Bulgarian and Greek creative groups, but representatives of the Ukrainian community were absent.

"This is not an accident, but a systemic policy—the eradication of everything Ukrainian and its replacement with Russian cultural narratives. The Russian Federation is gradually rewriting history and replacing the identity of the residents of the occupied territories. The aggressor is trying to gain a foothold in this area: after seizing the territory militarily, the Kremlin has moved to 'occupy' the consciousness of its residents," the Center emphasized.
