Cinemas, children's entertainment centers significantly adjust their concepts – opinion

Cinemas and children's entertainment centers remain the anchors of the development of shopping centers, but are significantly adjusting their concepts, UTG Director Yevhenia Loktionova told Interfax-Ukraine.

"Children's centers have become family leisure centers. These centers are designed for different age categories, from toddlers to the elderly. We are seeing a significant increase in the number of these centers. If, until 2022, the 1,000-2,500 sq m format was in demand, now it is the 2,000-4,500 sq m format," Loktionova reported.

According to her, this expansion of the audience is possible thanks to zoning and the use of modern technologies, primarily digital attractions. The most rapidly growing companies are Fly Kids (with 15 centers already operating and 11 under construction), Kraina Mriy (with 11 centers), and Smile Park (with four centers).

Cinemas remain anchors for shopping centers and have stable demand among consumers despite all external factors (quarantine, war). At the same time, there is a trend of reducing the area while focusing on additional services and modern technologies in the concepts of future cinemas.

The UTG company was established in 2001. It has developed more than 1,300 concepts of real estate objects. Over the years of work with the participation of the company, 4.7 million square meters of commercial space in Ukraine has been leased.
