There will be more suspects from Midas Operation – NABU chief

After comparing the audio recordings in the energy corruption case with the documents seized by the investigation and the financial "trace," there will be new suspects in the investigation, dubbed Midas Operation, National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) Director Semen Kryvonos has said.

"We are currently moving to the so-called public stage - notifying members of the criminal organization of suspicion, a pre-trial investigation is being carried out aimed at the financial investigation of the specified crime, that is, tracking all transactions, obtaining the necessary documents confirming the area from which the funds came, their further legalization and transformation into valuable assets, assets abroad," Kryvonos said on Tuesday during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy.

According to Kryvonos, the searches were effective, "despite all the obstacles that we had during the pre-trial investigation." "We managed to seize a large number of digital media, flash drives, computer equipment, mobile phones," he said, specifying that the anti-corruption authorities have "thousands of hours of recordings" at their disposal.

The NABU director reported that the seized computer equipment, as well as documents confirming certain transactions, are currently being processed.

Kryvonos stressed that the recordings are currently being listened to. "After comparing the audio recordings with, for example, a financial trail or with the seized documentation... many things become clearer to us... I am deeply convinced that we will have more suspects in this case," the NABU director said.
