Leyen: European Commission working to ensure Ukraine's financial and defense needs are met
Following a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the parties remain "united in supporting a peace agreement that is fair for Ukraine," an agreement "that fully supports Ukraine's sovereignty and provides the necessary security guarantees."
«Good discussion today with President Zelenskyy , who was together with President Emmanuel Macron and European leaders. We remain united behind a peace agreement that does justice to Ukraine. One that fully upholds Ukraine’s sovereignty and ensures the necessary security guarantees,” she said on X Monday.
Von der Leyen also said that the European Commission is working to ensure Ukraine's financial and defense needs.
“We are advancing our work to meet Ukraine’s financial needs. We have made good progress, and we plan to table our legal proposals this week. We are also coordinating closely with our partners in the Coalition of the Willing. We are boosting Ukraine’s defence capacity as part of our own,” she stated.
