Germany announces $200 mln Ukraine weapons package via PURL

Germany will provide an additional $200 million to the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine and will additionally allocate EUR 25 million to the Comprehensive Assistance Package within the framework of the NATO Trust Fund, the German Foreign Ministry announced.

"Germany will allocate an additional $200 million for armaments for Ukraine in two packages through the PURL mechanism. We will also contribute an additional EUR 25 million to the NATO Trust Fund for the Comprehensive Assistance Package, providing Ukrainian soldiers with the necessary winter equipment and proper medical care, especially now, during the ice and snow on the front line," German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful said before a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.

The Foreign Minister stressed that Vladimir Putin started the war in Ukraine and he can end it at any time. "He has not yet shown any real willingness to negotiate. Therefore, we will continue to put pressure on Russia and, as a NATO partner, we intend to increase it even further," said Wadeful.
