Belgian PM agrees Ukraine shouldn’t be left without funding following Thursday's EU summit - Zelenskyy
Ukraine understands Belgium’s warnings regarding the risks of making a decision on a reparation loan, but the country faces significant risks in the war, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noting the importance of the Belgian government’s support for the idea of further financing for Ukraine.
At a press conference in Brussels, where the European Council is currently meeting, Zelenskyy said he had spoken with Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever about the reparation loan.
"First of all, we had a good conversation, we understand each other. We understand the risks he’s talking about, but we’re at war, and, in my opinion, we’re facing significant risks. It’s important that he’s sending a signal that, of course, we must resolve the issue today or in the coming days so that Ukraine isn’t left without financial support," Zelenskyy said.
