Ukraine's energy system suffers nearly 2,000 massive missile, drone attacks since Sept – Svyrydenko
Since September 2025, Ukraine's energy system has suffered nearly 2,000 massive missile and drone attacks, almost a quarter of which were targeted destruction of energy infrastructure, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said.
"For the fourth year in a row, Russia has been trying to plunge us into darkness. The enemy launches dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones at energy facilities almost every day in an attempt to destroy generation facilities, electricity transmission and distribution systems, and dispatch centers. Since September of this year alone, Ukraine's energy system has suffered about 2,000 massive missile and drone attacks, nearly a quarter of which targeted energy infrastructure," wrote Svyrydenko in a Telegram channel in honor of Energy Day.
The prime minister emphasized that, after each attack, energy workers are working tirelessly at each facility.
"You are returning heat, light, communication, and the opportunity to work to people. Most importantly, you are giving people faith that we will survive," she added.
According to Svyrydenko, the government's priority is providing light to Ukrainian homes and ensuring the operation of enterprises.
"Remember and appreciate that we have light because Ukrainian energy workers provided it with their own hands and labor," Svyrydenko wrote.
She also announced that the government is launching an annual Cabinet of Ministers award for energy industry workers.
