Ukraine neutralizes 621 of 673 Russian missiles and drones overnight

The Ukrainian Defense Forces neutralized 621 of 673 enemy air attack vehicles on Tuesday night. There recorded missile hits and 39 strike UAVs at 21 locations, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has said.

"On the night of December 23 (from 18:00 on December 22), the enemy launched a combined strike on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine using strike UAVs, air- and ground-based missiles. In total, the Air Force's radio-technical troops detected and tracked 673 air attack vehicles - 38 missiles and 635 UAVs of various types... Missile hits and 39 strike UAVs were recorded at 21 locations, downed ones (fragments) fell at 8 locations. In addition, three aeroballistic missiles did not reach their targets (the places of the fall are being specified)," the message on Telegram says.

According to information, the Russian army used 635 Shahed and Gerbera strike UAVs (other types of UAVs) from the directions of Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – RF, Chauda, Crimea (about 400 of them – Shahed UAVs) for a massive air attack, and air defense shot down/suppressed 587 enemy UAVs.

The enemy also used 35 Kh-101 and Iskander-K cruise missiles in the attack (launch areas – Vologda, Kursk regions, Russia), and air defense neutralized 34 of them.

In addition, all aeroballistic missiles did not reach their targets.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

It is reported that as of 11:30 the attack was ongoing, with several enemy UAVs remaining in the airspace.

Effectiveness of the air defense against UAVs was 92.44%, against cruise missiles - 97.14%, and overall - 92.97%.

The previous massive air attack occurred on December 6, when the air defense of the Defense Forces neutralized 615 out of 704 missiles and drones, hits were recorded at 29 locations. In total, on the night of December 6, the enemy attacked with 51 missiles, of which 17 were ballistic Kh-47M2 Dagger and Iskander-M / KN-23, as well as 653 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera types and drones of other types. The overall effectiveness of the air defense then exceeded 87%.

The highest percentage of neutralized drones and missiles was recorded on the night of July 9, when 718 drones and missiles were neutralized out of 729 launched by the occupiers, giving an efficiency of about 96.9%.
