Poroshenko calls for legal assessment of activities of underground ‘Russian world schools’
MP, leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, commented on the revelation in the investigation of Slidstvo.Info of an underground pro-Russian school in Kyiv, which educates Ukrainian children in an atmosphere of the "russian world" using Russian films, Soviet textbooks, and the Russian language under the banner of "Slavic".
The state must immediately begin to take the issue of spiritual independence very seriously, the politician wrote on Facebook.
"We have moved this problem from a dead end and set a very correct vector of movement. We cannot allow Moscow priests to poison the hearts and souls of young Ukrainians under the guise of fake ‘schools.’ We need to give a decent legal assessment to those who turn monasteries into platforms for ideological revenge. The Tomos brought freedom and dignity to Ukrainian believers. But freedom does not exist by itself. It must be protected. And especially where children and the future of the country are concerned," Poroshenko noted.
He stressed that Ukrainians have the opportunity to reject Russian religious influence.
As reported, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovy instructed to inspect the educational institutions mentioned in the investigation by Slidstvo.Info about the underground pro-Russian school in Kyiv and stressed that the actions of the leaders and teachers involved in this activity will be separately checked. Based on the results of the inspections, specific, tough decisions should be made regarding the organizers and persons who directly carried out this training.
