Zelenskyy after overnight attack: Russia chooses terror and escalation, maximum pressure needed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that by shelling Ukraine on Tuesday night, Russia has demonstrated that it has prioritized terror over diplomacy, and therefore it should be put under maximum pressure.

"Using the coldest days of winter to terrorize people is more important for Russia than using diplomacy. And this very clearly demonstrates what is needed from partners and what can help. Timely supply of missiles for air defense systems and protection of normal life is our priority. Without pressure on Russia, there will be no end to this war. Now Moscow is choosing terror and escalation, and because of this, maximum pressure is needed," Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram on Tuesday, thanking partner countries for their help.

According to the president, last night the occupiers again launched targeted strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities using strike drones, ballistic and other types of missiles.

"The Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv and the capital, Dnipro, Odesa, Vinnytsia regions were hit. As of now, it is known that nine people were injured in the attack. There is damage to ordinary residential buildings and energy infrastructure. In Kyiv, there were fires in high-rise buildings after drone strikes, a kindergarten was damaged. Wherever possible, the necessary services have been involved," Zelenskyy said.

As reported, on the night of Tuesday, February 3, Russia attacked the residential and energy infrastructure of Kyiv and a number of regions with drones and missiles. In the capital, more than 1,100 houses were left without heating, the most difficult situation is in the Darnytsia and Dnipro districts. Restoration work is already underway.
