Fifty people detained after clashes in Kyiv – Interior Ministry
Fifty demonstrators were detained in Kyiv on Tuesday after clashes near the parliament building, said Ukrainian Interior Ministry aide Anton Heraschenko.
"Fifty participants in the provocation near the Verkhovna Rada have been detained. Detentions continue," he said on Facebook.
The Interior Ministry earlier said on its Web site that 36 people had been detained.
Clashes erupted between the police and unidentified assailants near the parliament building on Tuesday after the offenders started throwing flash grenades, flares, sticks and other objects over the police cordon guarding the building. Windows were smashed on the second and third floors. Bullet dents could be seen on the walls.
The situation has returned to normal near the parliament now. Protestors have left the scene.
