The process of synchronizing the Ukrainian power system with European ENTSO-E is at its final stage and should be completed in the next few days, the Ministry of Energy reported on Tuesday, citing Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko.

"Now the technical preparation of synchronization is being completed. It should be completed within the next few days. We expect our accession to take place next week," the minister said.

As he stressed, Ukraine is confidently moving towards strengthening its energy independence. The minister expressed hope that Europe will also follow the appropriate path and refuse, in particular, Russian gas.

"We warned that Russia was using gas as a weapon. And today this weapon is already in our streets. The Europeans just have to make a decision. They just have to refuse to buy Russian gas and oil. There are opportunities for diversification," he added.

As Haluschenko summarized, European countries should be guided in their policies by the new realities that the whole world faced on February 24, a military incursion into the territory of Ukraine.
