URCS disaster response teams participate in search and rescue exercise
Volunteers from disaster response teams of the Cherkasy regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) have taken part in a search and rescue exercise to practice their skills.
"In Cherkasy, rescuers trained to conduct search and rescue operations in a city. The disaster response teams of the Cherkasy regional organization of the URCS, together with the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Cherkasy region, joined in the exercise and trained to follow the emergency response algorithm of actions," the URCS said on Facebook.
Participants of the exercise learned the main stages and ways of conducting rescue operations in line with the INSARAG guidelines, such as technical search when conducting search and rescue operations in urban areas; work in limited and confined spaces; trench rescue; lifting and moving loads; practical use of plasma cutter.
