Kuleba: we put bait in the hands of the EU so that it could catch the sanctioned fish of Rosatom, but so far we have not seen this result

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that the European Union is making a big mistake by not introducing sanctions against Rosatom, although Ukraine has proposed a solution to break the Russian monopoly on the supply of fuel to nuclear power plants in EU countries.

Asked why the EU does not impose sanctions against Rosatom, Kuleba said: "Because it is making a big mistake. And we openly tell our European colleagues about this: you are making a big mistake by allowing the Russian Federation to make money from the nuclear industry."

The foreign minister said that Ukraine, together with the Westinghouse company, had proposed a solution that would "break the monopoly" of Russia on the supply of fuel to nuclear power plants in EU countries built by Russia and the Soviet Union.

"We put the bait in the hands of the EU to catch the big fat sanctioned fish of Rosatom. But, unfortunately, we do not see this result yet. We consider this a mistake," Kuleba said during a conversation with journalists in Brussels.

In September, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Kuleba said that "real opportunities" had opened up for adopting sanctions against Russian nuclear energy.
