UAE assists in organizing 50th prisoner exchange – Coordination HQ

The United Arab Emirates assisted in organizing the 50th prisoner exchange; in total, 3,035 Ukrainian defenders and defenders have already been returned home since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said.

"Since the full-scale invasion, 3,035 defenders and defenders have already been released from Russian captivity. We express our gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for their assistance and assistance in organizing this exchange. Every day our team works to bring everyone back as quickly as possible," according to the Telegram channel.

It is noted that among the released military personnel are defenders of Mariupol, Kherson, soldiers from Zmiinyi Island, marines and combat medics.

"In particular, junior sergeant Zakhar was rescued from enemy captivity. He fell into the hands of Russian terrorists along with his wife Tetiana after being evacuated from Azovstal in May 2022. In less than six months, the woman was exchanged and returned to Ukraine. Tatyana settled with her two daughters in Dnipro. However, on January 14, the Russians fired a missile at the high-rise building where the family lived. The defender died under the rubble along with the man's youngest daughter and mother. The eldest 19-year-old daughter Ruslana is waiting for her dad to return today," the headquarters said.

The doctors who saved their brothers and civilians at Mariupol Metallurgical Plant and Azovstal were also returned home. In addition, the senior lieutenant, who passed through Debaltseve and was twice awarded the Order of Courage, returned to his native land, and another defender of Zmiinyi Island was also saved.

Among the rescued military personnel this time are 95 representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 56 National Guardsmen, 26 border guards, 29 Territorial Defense soldiers and one representative of the National Police of Ukraine.

The headquarters said 180 defenders who are returning home are from private and non-commissioned officers, another 27 are Ukrainian officers. At least 36 of them are injured or seriously ill. The eldest of the released defenders is already 61 years old, and the youngest will soon be 21 years old.
