Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Natalia Kalmykova met with NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security Irene Felin and Head of the NATO Representative Office in Ukraine Karen McTear, the parties agreed to exchange experience, consultations and mutual assistance on the implementation of the principles of gender equality in the Forces security and defense of Ukraine.

"We discussed ensuring the principles of gender equality in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the challenges that the army now faces, as well as providing women with military uniforms and personal protective equipment. We separately focused on work to overcome gender stereotypes and realize the potential of women military personnel in positions that include operational planning and command of units," the deputy minister said on Facebook.

Kalmykova said the interaction and assistance of NATO structures is necessary for Ukraine in the practical implementation of gender equality policies in AFU.

"I am very grateful for the opportunities that the Alliance provides to Ukraine on the path to this goal. We will use them as effectively as possible for interaction and development. This applies to both training, intellectual assistance, and assistance in the implementation of projects related to the material support of female military personnel," she said.
