Zelenskyy following meeting with Syrsky: Russian army's Kharkiv operation fails

The Russian army failed to implement its breakthrough in the north of Kharkiv region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday, June 8, following a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky.

"I spoke today with the Commander-in-Chief about the situation in general. The significant result is that the Russian army failed to implement its Kharkiv operation," the president said in an evening video message.

According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian forces "are now holding them back as much as possible and destroying Russian units that enter our land and terrorize Kharkiv region."

The head of state also said that the Kharkiv axis has been strengthened, adding that "it will become even tougher [for the Russian army].

Zelenskyy also heard Syrsky's report on the Donetsk axis, where, according to the General, things are now most difficult.

"We are working to provide more reserves in our army," the president said.
