The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) was awarded the highest award of the Japanese Red Cross Society for its dedicated work during full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

"The highest award of the Japanese Red Cross Society was received by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society for the dedicated work of volunteers and employees during the full-scale war in Ukraine," the Ukrainian Red Cross Society announced on Facebook on Sunday.

The award was presented to General Director of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society Maksym Dotsenko during a meeting with President of the Japanese Red Cross Society Atsushi Seike in Tokyo.

Later, the leaders of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society took part in an open meeting dedicated to the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, the problems and challenges faced by Ukrainians. Participants of the event got acquainted with the areas of assistance of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in overcoming the humanitarian crisis in the country and the long-term perspective of supporting Ukraine.

The open seminar was attended by more than 200 people, including employees of the Japanese Red Cross Society, representatives of the public sector, government and government agencies of Japan.

"In the near future, we are preparing for winter. It will be difficult. Today, the energy system of Ukraine is suffering significant destruction due to constant missile attacks. Already today, Ukrainians are suffering due to the lack of electricity. In winter, the load on the energy system will increase, because in addition to electricity, the population will need to be provided with heat. And in the long term, our work will focus on the mental and physical rehabilitation of the civilian population and veterans," Dotsenko said at the briefing.

According to Deputy General Director of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society Illya Kletskovskyy, the main task at present is "not to let the world forget about the war in Ukraine, which is still ongoing, and to help as many Ukrainians as possible."
