Some 7,200 km of power lines need to be cleared from mines in Kharkiv region – regional power company
The demining of power transmission lines is part of Kharkivoblenergo's efforts to restore electricity supply in de-occupied territories and prepare the company for the autumn-winter period.
"The main reasons why 37,700 metering points remain without power today are combat actions, occupation, and dense mining. In 16 united territorial communities, 7,200 km of overhead power transmission lines need to be demined," said Acting General Director of the company Viacheslav Kravtsov during his speech at the forum "Electric Networks of Ukraine 2024," organized by Energy Club on July 4.
According to him, the company continuously operates with 12 sapper teams and six units of special equipment, and about 2,200 km of overhead power lines have already been demined.
The head of the company noted that cooperation with the Energy Support Fund, created by the joint initiative of the Minister of Energy Herman Haluschenko and the EU Commissioner Kadri Simson, has been a significant help in the company's current activities.
"During this time, we received equipment, materials, and special equipment worth UAH 946 million. We were provided with power transformers, cells, switches, stationary generators, wire, excavators, lifts, drilling and crane units, and more," said Kravtsov.
According to Kharkivoblenergo, since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the company's workers have restored electricity to 221,000 consumers in 403 settlements in Kharkiv region.
