Kyiv Celebrates Navruz

Celebrations on the occasion of the spring holiday Navruz were held on April 23 in Kyiv. They were organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Ukraine together with the Ukraine's National University of Bioresources and Environmental Management and the People's Diplomacy Foundation.
The event was attended by over 600 people, including representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, the Kyiv City State Administration, ambassadors and diplomats of foreign states, heads of international and regional organizations, rectors and teachers of higher educational institutions, figures of science, culture, business and public organizations.
The cultural program of the event included watching videos about the celebration of Navruz and the tourist opportunities of Tajikistan, recitation of poems by Tajik classics by students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, demonstration of national costumes of Tajikistan and Ukraine, as well as a joint concert with the performance of folk songs and dances.
As part of the celebration, an exhibition of photographs of Tajik women in national costumes, in particular in chakan and atlas, as well as paintings by Ukrainian artist Lyudmila Kobycheva "Philosophy of Spring", works from the "Ethno fashion" collection by Kateryna Potlova "Peace to your family, Ukraine!" was organized.
Among the honored guests were People's Artist of Ukraine Femiy Mustafayev, Honored Artist of Ukraine Olena Dobroziy, and the head of the Kalynochka artistic collective Maria Yastrebova.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Ukraine Davlatali Nazarzoda emphasized the historical importance of Navruz as a holiday of ancestors, which, thanks to the efforts of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, has become a global holiday. He emphasized the unifying role of Navruz in the development of intercultural ties.
The rector of the National University of Life Resources and Environmental Management of Ukraine, Vadym Tkachuk, noted that holding the holiday at the university contributes to strengthening international relations and the exchange of cultural traditions.
The President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Yaroslav Hadzalo, expressed respect for the Tajik people and emphasized the need to expand cooperation between Ukraine and Tajikistan in the field of agricultural development.
The Head of the People's Diplomacy Foundation of Ukraine, Fedir Lavrynenko, noted the importance of people's diplomacy as an important factor in bringing different peoples and cultures closer together.
The famous Ukrainian orientalist, Oleksandr Shokalo, comparing the traditions of Tajik Navruz and Ukrainian Easter, emphasized the deep cultural parallels between the two peoples.
At the end of the festivities, the participants had the opportunity to chat at festive tables, where dishes of national Tajik and Ukrainian cuisines were presented.
The culmination of the celebration was a football match for the Cup of the Ambassador of Tajikistan and the Rector of the University between the joint team of the Embassy and Diaspora of Tajikistan and the team from Ukraine's National University of Bioresources and Environmental Management.
