Zaluzhny: This war must remain a cult of defenders for future generations

Valery Zaluzhny, Ukraine's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is convinced that the experience Ukraine gains in the war should become a cult for future generations and form the basis of the school course ‘Defence of the Fatherland’ .
‘God willing, Ukraine will have enough strength, and this war will end. It is this war that must remain a cult for future generations. This cult of these defenders must be transferred to the subject of ’Defence of the Fatherland". We have experience that no other country in the world has... And so, in fact, the main thing for us will be to determine what we want to achieve with our children in 10 years' time,‘
Zaluzhny said in the podcast ’School for a General‘ on the YouTube channel ’New Ukrainian School". He noted that 10 years ago, ‘no one thought that the country would have to be prepared for such actions,’ and suggested that ‘most likely, in 10 years, we will know for sure that the preservation of this state will depend only on us.’ ‘We must tell the children who are about to start studying this subject that we have a homeland. You will defend it. You personally, choose your path,’ Zaluzhny said. According to him, Ukraine ‘needs people who will defend the entire state.’
"At the same time, I would like to point out that we are not only talking about the male population who will defend the country with weapons in their hands. Defending Ukraine is not just about fighting in the fields or on the outskirts of a settlement. War is much broader than that. War means that someone has to help the state, donate, someone has to stand at the machine, and so on. That is, we have to think about the fact that we need citizens who, first of all, will know that they are needed, and that the future of their children, the future of their state, and so on will depend on them. Based on this, we will think about what to include in this subject of ‘Defence of the Fatherland,’ Zaluzhny said.
