Ukraine and Israel discuss preparations for Rosh Hashanah in Uman - Embassy

The conversation between the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi, and the Minister of National Security of the State of Israel, Itamar Ben Gvir, took place on the topic of preparations for this year's Hasidic pilgrimage to the city of Uman (Cherkasy region).
"The main topic of the conversation was preparations for this year's Hasidic pilgrimage to the city of Uman and coordination of efforts to prepare and ensure law and order measures in places where pilgrims gather," the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel said on Tuesday.
The parties agreed to closely cooperate to coordinate the necessary measures during the pilgrimage and coordinate actions directly on the spot.
Vyhivskyi thanked his Israeli colleague for mutual understanding and stressed the importance of involving sufficient law and order forces of the Israeli side to strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian law enforcement officers, taking into account the challenges and threats posed by Russian armed aggression.
"The parties agreed to continue interaction and develop established cooperation," the message says.
Every year, Ukraine hosts tens of thousands of pilgrims to celebrate the Jewish New Year in Uman. This year, Ukraine and Israel have established an effective pragmatic dialogue to conduct a safe pilgrimage under martial law and to take the necessary measures to maintain law and order during the festive events.
The embassy expressed gratitude to Minister Gvir for his personal attention to the issue of jointly holding this year's Hasidic pilgrimage to Ukraine.
In 2025, the holiday will be celebrated from September 22 to 24.
