European Commission makes first regular payment under Ukraine Facility
The European Commission today disbursed nearly EUR 4.2 billion to Ukraine under the first Pillar of the Ukraine Facility. This brings to EUR 12 billion the total EU funding disbursed to the Ukrainian government under the Facility so far, the European Commission reported on Tuesday.
"Following the payment request submitted by Ukraine, the Council last week endorsed the Commission’s assessment that Ukraine has satisfactorily fulfilled the nine reform indicators linked to the first regular quarterly payment. These conditions, covering public financial management, governance of state-owned enterprises, business environment, energy and demining, have been set out in the Ukraine Plan," the commission said in its press release.
The European Commission said that today's payment follows the initial payments made under the Facility, namely EUR 6 billion in bridge financing and EUR 1.9 billion in pre-financing, and is a testament to the swift implementation of the Ukraine Plan.
