Ukraine to receive Leopard 2 tanks from Denmark, Netherlands this summer
A total of 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks purchased by the Netherlands and Denmark for Ukraine will be shipped this summer after repairs and tests in recent months, said Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans, the press service of the Dutch Ministry of Defense reports.
"Ukraine urgently needs additional military support due to heavy fighting. These tanks can play an important role in protecting the Ukrainian army from Russian troops," the press service quotes Brekelmans as saying.
The Netherlands, together with Denmark, purchased 14 used Leopard 2A4 tanks, which were repaired by the German company Rheinmetall. Ukraine will be able to use them in the fight against Russian aggression.
The last two tanks are undergoing tests, and the first 12 are already ready for shipment. All 14 tanks will be delivered by the end of summer.
He noted that the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine together with allies and partners for as long as necessary.
