Zelenskyy visits Sumy region's border area, meets with Syrsky, local authorities

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the border area of Sumy region where he met with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky and Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration Volodymyr Artiukh.

"The Commander-in-Chief reported on the operational situation in all areas of active hostilities, particularly in the toughest areas of the front. He reported on steps to strengthen the defense on the Toretsk and Pokrovsk axes. In certain areas of Kursk region, another settlement is now under the control of Ukraine, and we have replenished the exchange fund," the head of state said on the Telegram channel Thursday.

Artiukh briefed the president on the situation in Sumy region after the start of the Kursk operation. He noted that there has been a decrease in shelling from barrel weapons and a decrease in casualties among the civilian population.

The meeting participants paid special attention to the coordination of actions between the military, police and the State Emergency Service in the border area, in particular, to organize humanitarian convoys to certain areas of Kursk region.

According to the presidential press service, Syrsky also reported to Zelensky on the establishment of the military commandant's office in Kursk region.
