One GW nuclear power unit connected to power grid after repair - Energy Ministry
A nuclear power unit has been connected to the power grid, which will add 1,000 MW of power and stability to the power grid and will allow not to apply restrictions on power supply to consumers, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported on Friday.
"At present, another nuclear unit has come out of scheduled repairs and maintenance ahead of schedule, but in compliance with all safety standards. Its connection will help balance the country's power grid and avoid restrictions on electricity," Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko said.
As reported, Energoatom plans to load nine nuclear power units at the Ukrainian-controlled Pivdennoukrainsk, Khmelnytsky and Rivne NPPs with a total capacity of 7.8 GW to the maximum during the 2024-2025 heating season.
