Japan transfers about 100 units of heavy machinery, equipment to Ukrainian utility workers
Utility companies in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson and Mykolaiv have received 97 units of heavy machinery to improve the quality of services in transport, water supply and waste processing from destruction, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine said.
"Thanks to the Grant Agreements signed between the Ministry of Infrastructure and JICA in early 2023, Ukrainian cities received much-needed assistance for their utilities. We continue to cooperate with the Government of Japan and JICA in certain areas and hope to expand it in the future. We will make every effort to ensure that assistance from the Japanese side is attracted in the most transparent and accountable manner possible," acting Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Vasyl Shkurakov said on the website on Monday.
It is reported that in addition, utilities will be provided with a significant number of generators, pipes and other essential equipment to restore basic services.
It was previously reported that the Government of Ukraine and JICA signed a grant agreement for the Emergency Recovery Program on March 9, 2023. It provides for a grant from the Government of Japan in the amount of $172.75 million for the implementation of the Emergency Recovery Program.
