GUR liberates Vovchansk Aggregate Plant from occupiers
Units of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine have completely liberated the territory of the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant in Kharkiv region, cleared all 30 of its buildings and handed them over to the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
"As a result of an extremely complex and successful operation, GUR units have completely liberated the territory of the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant and destroyed the occupiers in all buildings of the enterprise," GUR said on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.
The operation was carried out by special units of the GUR Stugna, Paragon, Junger, RDK and Terror. At 14:40, the commander of the Timur special unit reported to GUR Chief Kyrylo Budanov on the successful completion of the operation.
GUR fighters conducted a systematic sweep of the buildings of the plant, constantly engaging in contact battles with the enemy in densely constructed areas. In some cases, Ukrainian special forces engaged the enemy in hand-to-hand combat.
"The Russians turned the Aggregate Plant into their propaganda "fortress", engaging the most motivated and professional units in its defense, among them were even fighters of the 45th brigade of the Sp-P airborne troops (Kubinka, Moscow). In addition, a significant amount of artillery, kamikaze attack drones, guided aerial bombs, and heavy flamethrower systems Solntsepek were continuously used against the Ukrainian scouts," GUR said.
The GUR fighters also managed to take prisoners and replenish the exchange fund.
"The territory of the Aggregate Plant is transferred under the control of the AFU after clearing all 30 buildings of the facility," it said.
