Authorities report Kinzhal attack on Kyiv, all missiles shot down, no destruction and casualties reported
On Monday morning, the enemy attacked Kyiv with Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles, all of which were successfully shot down by the air defense, Kyiv City Military Administration has said on the Telegram channel.
"At around 8:30 a.m., the enemy launched a missile strike on Kyiv. Reportedly, the Russian forces fired Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles from MiG-31K carriers. The capital city's air defense system was at work. According to preliminary data, all air targets were successfully destroyed," the head of the military administration, Serhiy Popko, said.
According to the official, pieces of a destroyed missile landed in the Holosiyivsky and Solomyansky districts of the city, however, no destruction or casualties were recorded.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, for his part, said that the fragments fell also in the Shevchenkivsky district and damaged a minibus in the Holosiyivsky district.
"In the Solomyansky district, [pieces of enemy missiles landed] in several places in the open space, and in the Shevchenkivsky district – near a crosswalk. In the Holosiyivsky district, in one place, [the pieces fell] on the sidewalk, in another one a fragment penetrated the roof of a service minibus. All services are heading for the scenes. Information about casualties and damage is yet to be clarified," he said.
