Putin threatens with Oreshnik to disrupt Trump's efforts to end war
Vladimir Putin does not want to let others end the war and threatens with the Oreshnik missiles to disrupt Donald Trump's efforts, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said on Thursday.
"Today in Kazakhstan Putin again touted his missiles – his readiness to kill and destroy. In addition to thousands of missiles, which had already been launched at Ukraine, Putin obviously wants to new thousands [of missiles]. He does not need this war to end. In addition, Putin does not want to let others end this war. He can be brandishing his Oreshnik right now with the only aim to disrupt President Trump's efforts, after his inauguration," the head of state said in a video message.
According to Zelenskyy, Putin wants to escalate the situation so that Trump is unable to end the war. The President emphasized that Putin "is the only culprit of this war and the only person who believes in war."
"That is exactly why Putin's escalation now is a pressure to later force the American President accept Russia's conditions. We understand all of the existing threats," he said.
As reported, Vladimir Putin said in Astana on Thursday that Russia plans to use its new weapons – Oreshnik ballistic missiles – against Ukraine and compared its capacity with nuclear weapons.
