 In 2025, the pace of Ukrainization of social networks accelerated, and the implementation of language legislation in the Internet space demonstrates positive dynamics Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Olena Ivanovska has said.

"After a sharp surge in 2022-2023 and a certain slowdown in 2024, an acceleration of the pace of Ukrainization of the Ukrainian segment of social networks is again recorded," the press service quotes Ivanovska as saying, following the results of a discussion of the state of compliance with the requirements of the legislation on the language of online representations and the presentation of a study on the use of Ukrainian and Russian languagesin the Ukrainian segment of social networks in 2025.

According to the Commissioner, the results of the study by the Content Analysis Center showed an increase in the share of Ukrainian-language content in social networks and a decrease in the presence of the Russian language in the public digital space.

She emphasized that the growth in the choice of Ukrainian on the platforms with the greatest influence on the formation of the language environment of teenagers is particularly noticeable: YouTube (plus 19% and TikTok - plus 29%).

"The regional dimension is also important. For example, in 2025, the Dnipropetrovsk region surpassed even Kyiv in terms of the pace of Ukrainization of posts, demonstrating an increase of 15.3%," the report says.

At the same time, the Commissioner emphasized that the language issue on the Internet remains sensitive and requires constant attention from both the state and the owners of online resources.

Ivanovska also drew attention to the need for further explanatory work and strict implementation of language norms on the Internet, since today the digital space is one of the key environments for the formation of language practices and social narratives.

Among the key recommendations, the Commissioner drew attention to the need to: limit the algorithmic promotion and monetization of Russian-language content aggressor state; formation of a long-term state policy to support Ukrainian-language creative and cultural industries; strengthening work with youth in the field of language sustainability and media literacy; more active participation of local governments, business and civil society in the formation of the Ukrainian-language norm in the digital space.
