EU’s 18th package of sanctions against Russia may contain strong things – Zelenskyy
Ukraine discussed with partners from the European Union the details of the 18th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, it may contain "strong things," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"We are waiting for sanctions from the United States. Europe has done it — the 17th package is ready. We have discussed the details of the 18th package with colleagues from the European Union, including Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa, so that it will be stronger. It seems to me that it will be strong. If one of the leaders does not block it, then it will be strong," Zelenskyy said during a conversation with journalists on May 27.
Also, according to him, Ukraine is simultaneously talking with the American side, with representatives of the Senate, with representatives who support sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.
"We believe that this is an important confirmation of the new administration's policy of ‘peace through strength’ if these sanctions are voted on and supported by the White House. I think this is an important step," the president added.
