Air defense neutralize 577 out of 614 air targets overnight, hits recorded in 11 locations

Ukrainian air defense forces, during a massive combined attack this night, shot down and suppressed 546 strike UAVs, one Kh-47M2 Dagger (Kinzhal) aeroballistic missile, 18 Kh-101 cruise missiles and 12 Kalibr cruise missiles.

Hits were recorded in 11 locations.

As the Air Force reported on Telegram, in total on the night of August 21 (from 18:40 on August 20) the enemy attacked with 614 air attack vehicles: 574 Shahed strike UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and from temporarily occupied Crimea. Some four Kh-47M2 Dagger (Kinzhal) aeroballistic missiles were launched from the airspace of Lipetsk and Voronezh regions in Russia, two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Voronezh, Russia, 19 Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace of Saratov region, Russia, 14 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea and one missile of an unidentified type from Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The enemy has probably returned to the practice of massive air attacks using UAVs, and missile strikes from ground, air and sea carriers.

As reported, on the night of August 20, the air defense neutralized one out of two enemy missiles and 62 out of 93 drones. On the night of August 19, the air defense neutralized six out of ten missiles and 230 out of 270 drones launched by the Russian occupiers, on the night of August 18 – 88 out of 140 drones and on the night of August 17 40 out of 60 drones.

The effectiveness of the air defense Thursday night was 93%.

The lowest percentage of drones launched by the Russian occupiers since the start of the full-scale invasion was neutralized on the night of July 20 (only 25 out of 57, 44%). The highest percentage of neutralized drones and missiles was recorded on the night of July 9, when the enemy launched 729 drones and 13 missiles (741 vehicles in total), of which 303 were shot down and 415 were suppressed (718 in total), which gave an efficiency of about 96.9%. Usually this indicator depends on whether the occupiers use drones during an attack mainly to strike targets in the rear or mainly near the front line.
