Ukraine's new ambassador to South Africa assumes his duties

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa (RSA) Oleksandr Scherba has officially assumed his duties.

“H.E. Dr. Alexander Scherba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa presented copies of his Letter of Credence to H.E. Mr. Clayson Monyela, Acting Chief of State Protocol at Department of International Relations and Cooperation, SA,” the Ukrainian Embassy in South Africa said on Monday.

It is noted that Ukraine's new ambassador to South Africa has assumed his duties.

On July 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree appointing Oleksandr Scherba as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa.

From 1996 to 2000, Oleksandr Scherba served as Attaché and Third Secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy in Germany (Bonn, Berlin).

From 2008 to 2009, he worked in the EU Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

From 2013 to 2014, he served as Advisor to First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov and participated in negotiations with the IMF and the EU to prepare for the signing of the Association Agreement.

From 2014 to 2021, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Austria.
